Natalia Stepanova is an oceanographer and leader of federal scientific and educational projects in the field of oceanology and Earth sciences.
She founded and heads the All-Russian scientific and educational program “Floating University,” which brings together students, young researchers, and leading experts in expeditions and scientific schools, creating a talent pool for the future of marine science. Since 2022, with the support of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, the program has been integrating regional initiatives and forming a unified system for training young scientists.
Since 2023, Natalia Stepanova has headed the Center for Earth Sciences at MIPT, which includes laboratories of Arctic oceanology, climate dynamics, and machine learning in Earth sciences.
She has experience in scientific expeditions from the Arctic to the Antarctic and has repeatedly led scientific and educational voyages on research vessels. She is an expert in the interaction between science, education, and public policy.
